Built by a Ghost user, for Ghost users

Vellumine exists because Ghost publishers deserve a search experience as thoughtful as the platform they write on.

Why Vellumine exists

Ghost is one of the best publishing platforms available: clean, fast, and focused on writing. But its native search has always been a weak point. It only scans titles and excerpts, has no typo tolerance, and gives publishers zero insight into what their readers are actually looking for.

As a developer and Ghost user, I got frustrated by this. I wanted a search bar that worked the way readers expect modern search to work: fast, forgiving of mistakes, and genuinely full-text. And I wanted to know what my readers were searching for, so I could write better content.

So I built Vellumine. It's a drop-in replacement for Ghost's native search: powered by Typesense under the hood, delivered via a single script tag, and designed to feel at home on any Ghost blog. It ships with full-text search, typo tolerance, semantic AI search, and analytics that respect reader privacy.

Vellumine is an independent project. It isn't backed by a VC, isn't trying to become an enterprise product, and isn't optimizing for growth at the expense of quality. It's built with care for the Ghost publishing community.

Core principles

Full-text, not just titles

Ghost's native search only scans titles and excerpts. Vellumine indexes every word of every post, page, and tag. Readers shouldn't have to know the exact title of something to find it.

Privacy by design

Vellumine tracks search behavior, not readers. No IP addresses, no fingerprinting, no personal data collected. Analytics that give publishers insight without compromising their readers' privacy.

Publisher-first

Every feature in Vellumine is chosen to help publishers understand and serve their audience. Search analytics exist to improve your content strategy, not to optimize ad targeting.

Founder & Developer, Vellumine

I'm a software developer based in Europe. Vellumine is my independent project. I design, build, and maintain it solo. That means every feature, every line of code, and every support response comes from me directly. No outsourced support, no automated replies.

If you have feedback, a feature request, or just want to chat about Ghost and search, I'd love to hear from you.
