Terms Updates and Right of Withdrawal

How Vellumine tells you about changes to its Terms of Service, how to object, and how to withdraw from a contract as a consumer.

This page explains two things: what happens when we change our Terms of Service, and your right of withdrawal if you use Vellumine as a consumer.

When we change the Terms of Service

You can read the current terms at vellumine.com/terms. All earlier and upcoming versions are listed in the version history.

If we plan a change, this is what happens:

  1. We email you at least six weeks before the change takes effect. The email explains what changes, links to the new version and states the date it takes effect. We send it to every account holder, whether you have a paid plan, a trial or a free account.
  2. A banner appears in the app. It shows the date and a short summary, with a Read the new terms button and an Accept button. You can dismiss it. It comes back the next day, and dismissing it doesn't count as accepting.
  3. You can accept right away. Click Accept in the banner. Then the new terms apply to you from that moment.
  4. If you do nothing, the new terms apply from the date in the email. The email says this plainly.

Changes to the price of your plan, or to the features included in your paid plan, are different. They only apply to you if you accept them. Staying silent or continuing to use Vellumine doesn't count as acceptance for those.

Object to a change

If you don't want the new terms, email chris@vellumine.com before the date in the email, or reply to the email itself. We note your objection, and your previous terms keep applying to you. Then we get in touch with you to find a solution. In some cases, we may have to end the contract with you.

Leave before a change takes effect

You can end the contract free of charge at any time before a change takes effect:

  • To stop a paid plan, use the Subscription & Billing link in your account menu and cancel it in the Polar customer portal. The plan then ends at the end of the current billing period, and your account continues without a paid plan.
  • To close your account, see Export and Delete Your Data.

Your right of withdrawal as a consumer

If you use Vellumine as a consumer, that is, mainly for purposes outside your trade, business or profession, you can withdraw from your contract with us within 14 days, without giving a reason.

You have separate contracts with us, and the right applies to each of them:

  • Your account. The 14 days start when your account is activated (for email signups, when you confirm your email address).
  • Each paid plan. The 14 days start when you complete the checkout.

If you withdraw from a paid plan, you get a full refund of what you paid for it, and the plan ends. Your account continues without a paid plan. We pay the refund through Polar, to the payment method you used. We refund you within 14 days after we receive your withdrawal.

If you withdraw from your account, we delete it and a running paid plan ends and is refunded in full.

The exact wording is in the withdrawal notice at the end of our Terms of Service, together with a model withdrawal form. After you buy a paid plan, we also email you the withdrawal notice.

How to withdraw

Send us a clear statement that you withdraw, for example an email to chris@vellumine.com. You can use the model form from the terms, but you don't have to. Please tell us the email address of your Vellumine account, and say whether you withdraw from a paid plan or from your whole account. We reply within 14 days.

It is enough to send your withdrawal within the 14 days. You don't need to wait for our reply.

If you signed up before our own Terms of Service replaced our previous terms, the terms-change email also contains this withdrawal notice. For your existing contracts, the 14 days start on the day you receive that email.
