Suggestions

Configure the search terms and tags shown when readers open your search bar.

When a reader opens the search bar before typing anything, Vellumine can display common search terms and popular tags as suggestions. This helps readers discover your content and gives them a starting point.

Common Search Terms

Common search terms are displayed as clickable suggestions when the search bar is empty. When a reader clicks one, it runs that search immediately.

Manual Configuration

On the Pro and Growth plans, you can manually curate the list of common search terms:

  1. Navigate to the Search Configuration page.
  2. In the Common Search Terms section, type a term and press Enter to add it.
  3. Click the remove button on any term to delete it.

You can also add terms directly from the Analytics page by clicking the action button next to any popular query.

Dynamic Suggestions

Instead of manually curating terms, you can enable dynamic suggestions to have Vellumine automatically populate common terms and popular tags based on your analytics data from the last 30 days.

When dynamic suggestions are enabled:

  • Common search terms are automatically filled with the most-searched queries.
  • Popular tags are automatically filled with the most-clicked content categories.
  • You can configure a term limit and tag limit to control how many suggestions are shown.
  • Manual entry is disabled while dynamic suggestions are active.
Dynamic suggestions require the Pro or Growth plan.

Popular tags work similarly to common search terms but show Ghost tags as category-based suggestions. Readers can click a tag to see all content in that category.

Tags can be managed manually or populated automatically via dynamic suggestions (see above). You can also add tags from the Analytics page.
